Luiz A. Rocha, born in 1973 in João Pessoa, Paraiba, Brazil, is a Biologist since 1996. He received his PhD in Marine Fisheries Biology in 2003 from the University of Florida. Currently he works on population genetics of wrasses and other reef fishes at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Panama, and his main research interests continue to be the evolution, ecology and systematics of coral reef fishes. He is the author or co-author of more than 20 articles about coral reef fishes on international scientific journals.
